I have a large pot of succulents with an aloe vera at the center. The rain had washed out some soil; and, I wanted to add a new small eucalyptus mint for a plant with a different type of leaf and texture. Also, the smell could be nice in the hot summer breeze. This bag had just enough soil, and it was easy to pour it around the base of the roots of the plants without disturbing anything already planted. I watered once and then added some more soil.

I don't find this really suitable for succulents. Other reviewers have noted the high percentage of organic material that tends to either be soggy or bone dry. I don't even find that it drains fast. I bought a bunch of succulent cuttings and got them rooted. The first batch I planted in this medium. Most of those succulents are struggling. I bought another bag of this soil and cut it with about 50% desert sand and planted the rest of the cuttings. Those cuttings are thriving. In short, I don't recommend this succulent mix unless you are prepared to amend it. I'm going to buy another brand of succulent mix next time. I live in Phoenix, and see succulents in the wild and in people's gardens and houses. The native soil and the mixes I've seen other peoples' succulents thriving in are nothing like the Hoffman mix.

When one live in a small town in the northern U.S.A., it is not easy to find cactus potting soil........Amazon to the rescue. This soil mix is just what I needed, and I now have what is probably a lifetime supply for my one cactus. I especially like that the soil mix includes a cactus fertilizer that is just what my cactus needs. I think the price is quite reasonable too. And, as long as you keep the extra soil sealed, it should last for years. I am quite pleased that my cactus ,Spiney Norman, is now safely transplanted and should be happy for years to come in a new, larger pot.

I was gifted a succulent that was potted in a way that it would not survive. I did a little research and tried this stuff when replanting it- my little plant seems to be doing well still so I’d call it a success! It was a larger amount than I needed but I’m going to keep it around for the future and maybe buy a couple more succulent plants. Would recommend.

Great quality soil! I mixed this bag of soil with a few scoops of regular potting soil because I had really a lot of cacti/succulents to replant and I can't be buying 5 bags of this stuff at a time. (Yes, I know that is an option, but the 5 bag option is $150 and I cannot be spending that much money on a relatively small amount of dirt.) Even with my adjustments I think this soil helped to improve drainage for plants of mine that don't like "wet feet."

Item arrived within expected time frame and in great condition. I used about half of the bag to pot 10 succulent cuttings in individual pots and they are doing very nicely thus far. The soil itself appeared as any high-quality potting soil that I've used in the past and had no 'off' odors or additives.

This seemed to revive my money plant which was not doing well due to the pot that I had it in previously. Also, I didn't know that I was using the wrong soil and I was afraid my plant was on its way out.Great soil: I highly recommend this. Take care with watering though. Check the soil before you water; if it is still moist, I recommend just using a spray bottle filled with water to spray your plant in between watering (if your plant is one that likes that- not all do) Just give it a light misting if it does. This also adds humidity which they tend to like. At least my indoor plants do.My money plant is doing very well now. I noticed a difference immediately after changing his pot and putting it in this soil.

I know the bag says "Soil Mix," but I didn't think it'd be mixed with broken shards of glass and other foreign matter.

I love my little cactuses and wanted to repot them and make sure they had the nutrients they needed to thrive. After some searching I settled on this soil. When it arrived the bag was bigger and fuller than I was expecting! I was able to repot 5 cactuses and I still have tons of soil left. My little guys are still going strong so it must be working.

I was given some succulent plants and did some research on what exactly I needed to grow them. I bought the Hoffman Organic Cactus and Succulent soil mix and my plants are thriving. In just one month one of my cactus is getting ready to bloom. Just what I wanted to happen. As always good pricing and quick shipping with Amazon.

Can't go wrong with soil mix. It has been a few weeks now and my succulent has grown twice its size since re-potting using this soil. I took the advice of another reviewer and left the bag in the freezer overnight to kill any bugs that could possibly be lurking in it.

I had my Aloe Vera plant in regular potting soil, and while it was doing fine I didn't think it was growing as quickly as it should be. Within a few days of repotting into this soil, however, my aloe plant was thriving! It's been about two and a half weeks and I wake up to find new growth almost daily. I'll update this review if things change, but so far my aloe plant and I are very happy with this soil.

I use this all the time and i is not the first time I've bought this from Amazon. I have a lot of succulents and cacti, so am making small plants frequently to give away of give as gifts. I use this mix along with perlte and peat moss to create a good, well-draining, mix that works nicely with my plants.

When I water my succulents, the water rests on top, which isn't good for all of them. I wasn't expecting that. I thought it was supposed to drain better, but it gets the job done. I just have to make sure the water soaks in well. It'd be good for other plants.

I'm not going to lie, I am not a gardener, I have no green thumb. So I can't really tell you much about the efficacy of this soil, but I can say that our cacti and jade plants have done wonderfully in it. I was mainly just posting this review to share that our bag had no mites or bugs of any kind. I was a bit concerned after reading the other reviews, so I kept a close eye on things, and several months have went by with not a single insect appearance.I give it a 4/5 mainly because a fair amount of dirt poured out of the little air holes during shipping, which isn't really a soil flaw, but is a problem from a design standpoint when it's getting tossed around in a box.

I'm new to the succulent world, and after doing research, the proper soil is the most important aspect for proper care. I've used this soil for dozens of plants, and they're all thriving! I'm starting to think I have a green thumb. If you're thinking of starting a succulent garden, this soil is the best.

I knew nothing about Growing Aloe Plants. I knew how to care for ones that were all grown up and self-sufficient, but I grew plants from seedlings and was nervous about what they needed. This soil was the first soil they moved into, out of their little "nursery". It is amazing how well they are doing! I did not mix anything with the soil, just used it alone. My plants are full, healthy, and growing. It is important to pot them so excess water can drain and in colder climates in the winter, they will not grow as fast, nor need as much water. However, the soil will do its job, if I do mine. I recommend this as it has served my young plants well.
