My experience didn’t yield the three gallons of soil that it suggested might result, but it was enough for planting my cherry tomato plant. This is an update to my original 4 star rating. In less than a week, the cherry tomato plant has doubled in size. Not necessarily astonishing except that I have four others in different soil, and they are nowhere near growing as well as the one in the compressed soil mix. I think I am a fan!

Well, they’re not lying. This stuff creates a beautiful light and fluffy, well draining soil. I am a houseplant addict and it’s about that time when so many need to be repotted and I wanted a lighter, well-draining mix. I actually mixed this in equal quantities with some high quality potting soil and good perlite and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Several of my plants already look happier. I’m sure it would be great used alone but it’s pretty expensive. Mixing this way saves money and I still get a fantastic result. I think I’m hooked.

I used a lot of different soil last year in my garden and this was by far the best soil. The plants in this soil grow faster and lusher and it kept moisture so much better. A real plus here in Arizona. I will absolutely be buying and using this again this spring.

Yes, this expands significantly, and yes, it appears to be a fine product that my plants are enjoying thus far. I have no problem with the quality of the actual product. The thing is, it is way overpriced. You can buy a 10 or 11 lb bag of compressed coco coir for $15, and the coir mixed with water will expand quite a bit. One bag of coir + 1 bag of topsoil gives me a wheelbarrow full for under $20. This product is $25 and when mixed with water it makes 3 gallons of product, or 3/5 of a 5-gallon bucket. You will want to mix this product with topsoil/potting soil as you would for coir. Anyway, this is a good product but for $25 you only get a little more than 1/2 of a 5-gal bucket worth of product. Get some compressed coir, a bag of soil, and some guano/worm casting based fertilizer and you're good to go.

What a great, nontoxic soil! Such fun to see it pouf up with watering! Tiny suggestion, use MUCH less than you think you need to fill up pot, it expands in leaps and bounds!

I have a raised organic composting planting bed. As it composts, the volume shrinks a little. It was time for me to add soil to what I had there. I saw this, and being 75 years of age and weighing just over 100 lbs, the thought of lugging a bunch of soil from the car to the bed wasn't one I was looking forward to, so I read further. It was a little hard to believe, but I decided to try it. It's nice to find a product that does exactly what it says it will. Two little bags of this soil plumped up to many inches of soil in my planting bed, and my veggies seem to be loving it. While it costs more than regular potting mix, it's not as much as you think because of the huge amount of soil it produces. I like it enough to say that from this point on, it's the only soil I'll be using in my veggie garden.

I use this product in a standard panther chameleon enclosure. I saw reviews of other products similar to this one that said that their soil grew mold. I saw reviews on this product no body said they got mold issues at all. So i went ahead and purchased it because of the reviews it had at the time. So far the products says what it is, it is 3 gallons worth of soil. And NO MOLD :) A month in using it. I have to say its a good product. Also its doesnt really have an odor

This is great potting soil. I added 1.2 gallons of water (as suggested by another reviewer) and got great soil. It was wonderful to work with and my plants are looking great.

I have only had this product for a few days, and I am quite pleased with it.I placed a little in a pot of aloe vera that became temperamental once the weather began to cool, and I already see marked improvement. The once browning stalks got on board by choosing "the other side" and are becoming green again. Color me excited! :)

This is great so far. I think it did come with some big as indicated by other reviewers. But! I re-potted my plant yesterday. A branch was dying at the top. Now it’s producing leafs. See the picture. Just get it!

I chose this plant soil because of the ingredients listed. I'm always a bit hesitant with an organic application because of odors and extra critter activity in the garden not to mention my dogs end up eating it too. But I am so impressed. No oders & dogs don't even notice that I've applied it as a top dressing to my garden plants and my night blooming orchids are getting the extra love they deserve. I recommend it as a top dressing. It covers alot of ground. If organic earthworm castings is what your looking for look no further this product nails it.

Works exactly as advertised. You don't add 3 gallons of water. The package is .4 gallons of compressed soil. Add 3x .4 = 1.2 gallons of water to get 3 gallons of (fluffy) soil.

The best part is not having to lug huge bags of nursery soil in and out of my car (some always spills in the vehicle). It's too early to tell how the blooms will look, but so far the plants seem to be thriving.

Still haven't worked out how economical this is as mainly using handfuls in pots for seedlings... BUT the seeds love it - as does my lettuce.... and it's sort of fun watching it grow ;) Mainly impressed with the germination rate though... ;)

Just as described. Nice to get a compact bag instead of a big one. The soil expands nicely!

I like the product for the quality of soil, however, do not add 3 gallons of water or you end up with a soupy mess and there are no instructions on the bag outside of add 3 gallons of water to mix. I bought two additional bags of soil from nearby store and it is still soggy
