These are nice shears and fit a small hand well. I like the placement of the lock because it's out of the way and very easy to close and open. It has never gotten in my way as some others have mentioned. I'm very disappointed in the thickness they cut however. The description says 3/4", but I haven't even gotten them to do 1/2". I'm keeping them for now because they do fit my hands well, but I'll probably end up getting something else that can handle thicker things.

I have three pair of these. I use them so frequently, an extra pair comes in handy. These fit my small hands perfectly, and are easy to squeeze. That matters a great deal to arthritic hands. I have lost springs in the yard, but Tabor sent spares when I asked. I keep them sharpened with a sharpener I purchased on Amazon, following guidelines from Tabor. I also have three Tabor loppers in various sizes. I replaced tools repeatedly until I tried this brand. Keeping the jungle cut back requires a lot of trimming here in Alabama. Opelika means "big swamp" in the local Native American tongue. Need I say more?

I had bought the bigger pruning shears last year from tabor tools and loved it. Really sharp blade, strong rust free body, the spring made it effortless to cut through even bigger branches and they included a replacement blade. My uncle loved it just as much so he took it. I tried to buy another of the same but it wasn't available at the time. I didn't really want to get the smaller one however I had some serious spring cleaning up to do in my backyard forest. Used it for hours everyday for a week and this thing didn't slow down a bit. Still use it and the blade hasn't dulled at all. Just keep the blade clean and it should last for decades.

These are pretty good hand pruners. I have had mine for a few years now and the bolt connecting the shears is easy enough to take off in order to sharpen the blade. They've seen their fair share of work over the years and are well worth the price they charge. However, the one small knock I have is the annoying latch on the handle. More often than not the latch will be in the down position when I am cutting and affects the cleanness of the cut and makes a clicking sound. I will then put the latch in the up position, but will ultimately find its way back down. If it weren't for this, I would give these hand pruners 5 stars for sure. Well worth the money for a weekend gardener.

I have a tabor saw, and it works great, so that was a deciding factor for this pruner. The hard chrome is always a very desirable feature for yard tools, as it keeps the rust at bay, and for a pruner, it keeps the cutter from getting gummed up as quickly.Pros: hard chrome finishCons: needs a minor fix to the return spring to prevent it from popping out, as others have reported. The black heat shrink appears thin, so I'll probably just cut if off.FIX: If you remove the spring, you'll notice that the ends do not wrap very closely around the mating part of the handle. The post where it sits measured about 1/4" (6mm), but the opening on the end of the spring is more like 5/16" (8mm). The easy fix is to use some pliers to close the end off, a little smaller than a 1/4", and then when you re-install the spring, you'll force it over the post, which will keep it from popping out. Even if one side were to pop off (which it should not), the other end should be tight enough to retain it.

I had to reduce by a star because no matter what I do, the cuts aren’t very clean and sharp. I bought these as an aid in caring for my orchids, since if and when I cut something, I need sharp and clean cuts as the plant aerial roots and stem are spongy material. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I got a super sharp pair as they seem to mash the plant material upon a cut. I have yet to see if the stem will grow as the plant is in a dormant stage, but my concern is that the stem tissue was mashed and won’t regrow. I shall see. These are very easy to clean, and the leathering piece to keep the shears from opening all the time is a benefit. I do wish these had come with a plastic storage case, but you can’t win them all.

This is one of the best pruners I've used! I've had this pruner for about 2 weeks now. The blade is very sharp and since it's more pointy than other brands, you can get in between the herbs to snip a few leaves or be more precise when deadheading. The pruner feels substantial but not heavy and not light weight like some cheaper brands. I wipe off with a dry towel after each use. The little hook to close the blade is fantastic as it does not get in the way and easy to use. Great well designed pruner!

I've had to maintain 2.75 acres of landscaping that our home sits on for the past 23 years. We live in hot and humid Southwest Florida where the plants grow quickly enough that you can almost watch them get larger. To shape them properly and avoid having them develop that "leggy" appearance, frequent pruning is just as important as proper watering, soil drainage, and fertilizer. It's hard to say how many pruning shears I've gone through since we've lived here. It's common to tackle a job too large for a hand pruner. That rewards you with a lost spring, a twisted handle or a broken blade. So far this TABOR tool has survived any attempt that I have made to damage it. The steel blade remains sharp, the blades lock together tightly when not in use, and the spring just keeps doing its job. This is a great pruner for only $14.95. Comfortable to grip, easy to use, no muss or fuss. I really appreciate the red color since I have been known to drop various tools and not be able to recover them since they are green or brown and blend into wherever I've been using them. Even one night outside results in a light layer of rust on a recovered tool. I've taken to painting the handles on all my dull colored equipment a bright orange so that it's easier to find them when they're dropped.

First off, I was excited to get this shears for my crop (cannabis). The shears worded well for the first couple months but, after that, it ended. The tip of the shears became black and lost their edge and starting crushing my clone cuttings (had to use a razor to clean up the mess of the crush). The shears are cleaned after every session with rubbing alcohol. These shears cut and defoliate the leaves very well and cut off the fan leaves but, at the end of the day, I feel that after 4 months these shears should still be brand new due to the care I take with them.

I have used garden clippers since 1976. THESE ARE THE VERY BEST SET I HAVE EVER OWNED!! The blade is very sharp - love the latch to keep it closed. As I 'mature’ – the spring on these aid in making an easier use than the spring-less versions. They are also tough – as I have put them through unintended situations that show these are study clippers. I am so happy with these, will be getting another pair for one of my family members who also gardens a lot. If there were a way to give 10 stars – these are THAT WONDERFUL – if you garden a lot. When I purchased they were $14.99 - very reasonably priced.

I bought these shears to cut back my perennials. Based on the description and reviews, I was uncertain they would be strong enough for this task, but after using them for several hours last weekend, I can unequivocally give them a thumbs up. They work better than my by-pass pruners on dense plants that have lots of foliage and little stems, and they don't give me blisters on my thumb like my garden scissors always did after hours of pruning. I was also pleasantly surprised that they could easily cut the woody, pencil-width stems on my lavender; these are more than florists' pruners. They are, in short, wonderful--a comfortable, reasonably priced, high-quality product that will prove essential to the avid gardener. The seller is also very eager to make sure that you are satisfied. Don't hesitate to buy.

I bought these based on the positive reviews here. But upon receiving them, I am disappointed. They just have a cheap feel to them. The handles and mechanism are just stamped and rolled steel, not forged. They are held closed and secured by a large rubber band that simply looks like it will not last, does not feel like quality or durable rubber. For the price, one could probably do better.

The first time you wrap your fingers around it you know it's a quality product. The blades are sharp, the spring and grips are solid. The pointed ends allow reaching to a precise point where you want to cut. I think this is the best pair of snippers I've ever owned. I've only had them a few weeks but in that time I've made a hundred or so snips of lettuce, tomatoes, basil and cilantro. I enjoy the quality and ease of each cut.A key feature that doesn't show is the leather closing strap at the end of the handle that allows for storage with blades closed.I can't comment on durability as I've only had the shears for a short time, but I do love the feel of them in my hand, the sharpness and precision of the blades, the grip, and the very reasonable price I paid.I received no incentive for my review.

These are such great clippers. Very sharp, very comfortable to hold, and they are the only clippers that my husband will use. They won't whack off a tree branch, but are suitable for every other trimming need. They are my favorite! And I am serious when I say that my husband won't use anything else! I finally bought " extra" pairs so that we can both have our own. Great product and a great price.

Not quite as hard as the harder steel, but the stainless steel material holds an edge for decent amount of time...just not as long as teh harder steel. I misplaced these, and found them on the lawn a couple weeks later, after numerous rainstorms. It was like they just came out of the package.

Other than the type of material used to coat the handles, these snips are exactly like the Corona brand snips I have. I use these for most all of my light trimming/pruning needs. They're great for snipping the tender side shoots on my indeterminate tomatoes, harvesting vegetables and herbs, and deadheading flowers. I like that they have a longer nose - it makes them useful to get into harder to reach areas on the plant.I have multiple pairs scattered around my yard. Also, since they're not stainless steel, they hold their sharpness longer.

I have small hands - wear a size 5 ring - and do not have a strong grip. These cutters are easy to hold, and very sharp. I have added the habit of rinsing and drying with each use to prolong their life. They cut easily through lilac or rose stems, stray laurel or whatever. I would not think they were meant for thick cuts, and would suggest a bigger tool if that is what you plan to cut larger branches. They are replacing a slightly heavier set which I had for years - I wish I had bought these sooner.

Very sharp! Be careful! Wow! This pruner is razor sharp. All I've used before were Fisker pruners - which are OK. But I feel like I'm in the big leagues with this Tabor Pruner. I didn't know what I was missing. Time will tell if it holds up. I actually got this as a gift for my wife. Her Fisker pruner kept getting smaller branches sandwiched between the blades. If I tightened the blades, it was too difficult to squeeze the handles. So I thought I would try another brand. To test the sharpness, I cut into a paper towel to see if it would cut or go between the blades. It cut a slit with ease. A perfect, clean cut - better than my sharp scissors. Then I tried it on some rose branches. Sliced nice clean cuts with no effort. The build is high quality. It feels very sturdy in your hand. My wife has small hands and some arthritis and didn't have a problem using this pruner. I like the handle lock in the back - opposed to on the side. It is less likely to be locked or unlocked accidentally. So far, I am very happy with this pruner. If, over time it falters, I will edit this review or write a new one. But for now, couldn't be happier with this purchase!

These are very nice pruning ng scissors. They are longer than my other pruning scissors which makes them perfect for getting deeper into a plant. I have been using them all summer to cut okra in our 1/2 acre garden and we have about 100 plants so it takes a while. They work great on all the other veggies too. They are easy to use and do not tire my hand out. I love the red handle for easily spotting when I drop them on the ground. Even after heavy use they blade continues to cut cleanly through thick flower stems like mammoth sunflowers or for delicate flowers and greenery. Great well built sturdy tool

Up until today, I would have given this product 5 stars, especially given the price. They fit my hand nicely and they're sharp. They do an excellent job at pruning. However, I've used them just a handful of times since purchasing them, and today the spring popped out and went who knows where. I've just written to the company, hoping they'll send me some springs, and I may also check a hardware store for replacements. But I'm more likely to order a pair of Felco's and pay the money for pruners I know will last.Update: Tabor got in touch with the day after I wrote them and are sending me a couple of springs. I now officially not only love the pruners (OK, I still don't love the spring), but the company was responsive and helpful. I thank them deeply. It's nice to have a company that cares.

Love these pointed cutters. Stealth clippers. I can clip EXACTLY what I aim at!No innocent bystander stems or branches fall victim to these babies.Super recommended. It's now almost the end of June, I've clipped a big recycle bin full of dead and spindly stuff in the yard, and these little clippers just keep on clipping. They make it so much easier for my old lady hands!

I've been using these pruners now for at least a month. Nearly daily use. I really like them, especially for the price. I have large hands and these guys, though not as large as some hand pruners I've purchased in the past, fit very well. I like the clip that closes the pruners and the way it stays out of the way when you are pruning. The blades have stayed sharp and believe me, they've been worked hard with lots of Winter pruning. These guys will continue to be a well used tool in my arsenal of pruners.3/5/2017 UPDATE - still a very capable pruner. I'm impressed and I prune a lot. I especially like the compactness of these guys...not really bulky if you slip them in your pocket. I've bought some terrible pruners at a similar price point. No, they are not Felco's but they are easily worth the amount you'll spend here.

I'm a dedicated gardener, and I've got several different kinds of pruning shears and use them a lot. My go-to pruner for years has been a Felco #2, and it's well made and well designed. This pruner is too. There are a couple things in particular that I like about this one that no other pruner I've got or looked at has. First, is the locking mechanism. On this pruner, you unlock it by squeezing the handles, and it automatically unlocks. That is simpler than any other locking device I've got or seen, and it works. To lock the pruner, you simply close the blades and press the button, and it locks. Again, simple and effective. Second, I like the spring. It's strong and doesn't look like it's going to fall off any time soon (the spring on my Felco has a couple times). As advertised, they are heavy duty, appear to be well made, and are solid. I like them a lot.

Cuts larger branches as well as smaller. So often the shears that will cut a thicker branch will not cut smaller, finer stems. These shears by Tabor do both, cleanly and smoothly. I usually have to carry two pairs of shears in the yard-- one for pruning branches and another for light cutting. I purchased both the HD Pro Pruning Shears and the lighter duty small-hand shears by Tabor, thinking I would need to carry them both around when pruning in the yard. These HD shears were able to cut in one clip larger branches. While larger branches took more than one clip than I have strength for without using ratcheting shears, my husband probably could have done it easily. The Tabor HD Shears also fit my hand comfortably.BTW, these shear handles are for a Right-handed gardener, but although I think using them in my left hand is comfortable, I don't know how this would be affected with long term use by a leftie.

These are the perfect size for small, arthritic hands. The spring is not so strong that you have to squeeze hard - it's just strong enough to open the shears. The blade is very sharp and sturdy. It's also nice to have the locking mechanism on the bottom for safety. My 80-yo Mom has used them to trim back rose bushes and a dwarf lemon tree, with no problems.

I've tried MANY MANY MANY garden clippers over the years - from name brand like Sears Craftsman, to boutique snipper-clippers, to even a 3-pack from CostCo. ALL left me ultimately disappointed, some sooner than later. Either the handle, locking mechanism or blade would simply not last or do the job ergonometrically. I was attracted to these clippers seeing the handle locking mechanism. Believe me, if you have a pair from CostCo, you will know that you practically dislocate your thumb pushing the locking wheel into place. OW OW OW. You might think that the coiled spring in these is flimsy, but it is NOT. The blade is wicked sharp, too. But best of all, the locking mechanism is that simple swing clip that fits over the base of the handle. What could be easier? I have been using these pruning sheers for several months now, and find them perfect for household flower arranging or gardening. You can easily cut a stem or branch almost 1/4" thick. The vendor is also very customer-focused, having contacted me to see if I liked the sheers. I can now give a resounding "YES!" having tried them out for a few months.
